About Broadland District Council

Broadland is a great place to live and work. It is picturesque and peaceful on the doorstep of the Broads National Park with a thriving economy, focused on high value knowledge sectors such as financial services and insurance.

Our vision for the future is to grow an even stronger and more vibrant Broadland, with more jobs, more homes and more opportunities for all. Financial industries are at the very heart of this ambition, recognising the vital contribution that they make to the economy of our area.

The district is home to the Broadland Growth Triangle, the UK’s largest urban extension with 13,000 new homes planned for delivery, and is part of Greater Norwich, an engine of growth for the East of England.

The Greater Norwich area is a major regional centre for employment and culture and is the UK’s largest general insurance centre outside of London. A £575m public sector infrastructure package, including the A1270 ‘Broadland Northway’, is being implemented to deliver 40,000 new homes by 2026 and 40,000 new jobs in the area by 2031.
